Solvent Based Organoclay Rheological Additive CP-27A
CP-27A is an organo clay (modified montmorillonite), designed especially for use in solvent based system. It is especially recommended to be used in high polarity resins such as epoxy, and high alcohol percentage solvent systems.
It is suggested to be used to replace Bentone 27.
Advantages
High gelling efficiency
Produce reproducible thixotropic consistency over a wide temperature range
Imparts particle suspension, preventing hard settling of pigment and fillers
Exerts strong film reinforcing action in organic binder systems
Typical properties
CompositionOrganic modified bentonite
AppearanceFine powder, light yellow
Moisture content(105º C, 2hr)≤ 3.5%
Loss on ignition, %(1000º C)≤ 38%
Bulk density0.48-0.53G/cm3
Fineness (200 mesh)≥ 98%
Viscosity (in xylene)≥ 3.0PA. S
Application
In solvent based paint. It is mainly suggested to be used in industrial paint such as marine paint, container paint, anti-corrosion paint and anticorrosive paint.
Using
CP-27A disperses under high shear and requires a polar activator for best efficiency. Heat is not required to obtain good dispersion. Addition levels are typically in 0.2%~2.0%. Dosage of polar activator (95% ethanol or 95% methanol) is 30%-60% of CP-27A in weight.
